Abstract:
Successful organizations must be built from the ground up. The Nonindigenous Species database (NISbase) is the seed of a global network, adding partners one by one to an interoperable collaboration that enables cross searching of several member databases via the Web. XML and DiGIR technologies are being developed, following the structural framework suggested by GBIF. NISbase can be accessed online at http://www.nisbase.org.
